This policy explains what tackleatlas.com collects, why, who else sees it, and what you can require us to do about it.

What we collect, and why

When you write to us

The contact form collects your name, your email address and the content of your message. We use them for one thing: answering you. They are not added to any mailing list, and we do not send newsletters. Legal basis: your consent, given by ticking the box on the form. Messages are kept for up to 24 months, then deleted.

Server logs

Our host records standard technical data on every request: IP address, date and time, page requested, browser and operating system. This is how a web server works, and it is what lets us detect attacks and diagnose faults. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and available. Retention is handled by our host and does not exceed 12 months.

Audience measurement

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which guides are read and where readers give up. It tells us about pages, not people, and we never try to identify an individual reader. Legal basis: your consent, which the banner asks for before any measurement script runs.

Advertising

This site is funded by advertising served by Google and its partners. Depending on your choice in the consent banner, advertising is either personalised — using cookies and identifiers to select ads based on your interests — or non-personalised, using no more than the page you are on and coarse location. Legal basis: your consent. You can change your mind at any time through the cookie settings link in the footer.

Affiliate links

When you follow a commercial link to a retailer, that retailer or its affiliate network may set a cookie to attribute a later purchase to us. What happens after you leave this site is governed by that retailer’s own privacy policy, not this one. See the affiliate disclosure.

Your consent choices

We record what you accepted or refused in the banner, and when. That record is the proof we are legally required to keep, and we keep it for the period required by law.

Who else sees your data

• Our host, o2switch SAS (France), which stores the site and its data.
• Google LLC, for audience measurement and advertising, where you have consented.
• Our email provider, which transmits the messages you send through the form.
• Public authorities, where a valid legal obligation requires it.

We do not sell personal information for money. Under California law, sharing data with advertising partners for cross-context behavioural advertising may nonetheless be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” — the consent banner is where you opt out of it, and refusing advertising cookies is a complete opt-out.

International transfers

The publisher is established in the United States and the site is hosted in France, so data may be transferred between the European Union and the United States. Such transfers rely on the European Commission’s adequacy decision for the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or, failing that, on Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write through the contact form, choosing “Legal or privacy request”. We answer within 30 days, and we may need to verify your identity before acting.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom you additionally have the right to restrict or object to processing, the right to data portability, the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting what was done before, and the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.

If you are in California you have the right to know what is collected and disclosed, the right to delete, the right to correct, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information — we collect none — and the right not to be treated differently for exercising any of them.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13, or under 16 in the European Union. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, tell us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to the administration area is restricted, protected against repeated login attempts and backed up regularly. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat the little data we hold as if it mattered, because it does.

Changes

When this policy changes materially, we update the date below and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent again.
